Composition has taken inspiration from figurative expressionist Francis Bacon. Daniels' work is characterised by his use of animals, juxtaposition and an often humorous commentary. Here, the Giraffe depicted in a less seen angle, an awkward and vulnerable drinking position, is situated in a Bacon-esque room. The Giraffe seemingly drinking from black oil-like liquid, with a plastic chair 'portrait' hanging proudly in the room. This is a comment on the use of crude oil on our planet and wildlife.
